WaKenbo is a quaint 30-seat restaurant in the heart of Fitzroy. Upon entering the space, one immediately feels a sense of calm. Chef-owner Kenji Ito engaged DLF to help bring ‘wa’ meaning ‘harmony’ to the space. The stonework, wood, fluid lines and brown and cream tones reference the natural themes of water, earth and flow. Serving a contemporary Japanese cuisine, DLF designed the interior to mimic a traditional izakaya within a modern Australian context.
